A Parish Prayer

God of love and hope,
our guiding light and source of love:
Lead us by your Spirit into a
  new and hope-filled future,
  where we can joyfully proclaim
  Christ’s love and peace
to the community where we live.
Help us to be open to change
  as we embrace your vision
for a people reconciled to you
  and each other.
This we ask in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.

Green facts

61% of the world’s ethanol production comes from sugar crops.. Biofuels account for only 0.6% of Australia’s energy production.

Temperatures after ice ages increased at 0.001 degree per decade.  This century temperatures have been increasing at 0.13 degrees per decade, largely due to human contribution of green house gas.

Australia has the highest CO2 emission per person in the world.  WA has the highest in Australia.

Cars use 23 time more energy per person than trains. A train moves 50,000 people per hour. A freeway moves 2,500 people per hour. Sweden’s biogas train emits just 1.7% of the CO of its diesel equivalent.  Trains contribute only 2.2% of all transport CO2 emissions. TB

Some reflections on vocation

Life’s most urgent question is,

‘What are you doing for others?

Martin Luther King

It is the first of all problems for a human being to find out what kind of work they have to do in this universe.  Thomas Carlyle

Many people mistake our work for our vocation.  Our vocation is the love of Jesus.  Mother Teresa

Where  talents and the needs of the world cross, therein lies your vocation.  Aristotle

Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will effect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with  joy and gratitude.  Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.  Pedro Arrupe

To the extent that your work takes into account  the needs of the world, it will be meaningful; to the extent that through it you will express your own unique talents, it will be joyful.
