| A vision
embraced |
|
Hello friends,
We were blessed to have Archbishop Roger Herft come to our
Parish to launch our Vision last Sunday, 17 August. This
marks a poignant moment in the life of our Parish. The
Vision sets the direction for our energy and effort for the next
three years, and already it is bearing fruit. Key Ministry Area
(KMA) coordinators told us briefly about their KMA dreams
for the future, and some of the things their KMA is already
putting in place. There is a sense of momentum, as we build on
the good work already being done by many in the Parish.
Posters
with the various dreams and Action Steps can be perused in the
Hall.
Every blessing and good wish.

| Next steps in our
Vision |
|
The Discernment Group is next
looking at Life Groups, one of the elements in our Vision
statement. The idea is that we grow big by growing small.
Many parishioners will remember being a part of a small group in
years gone by. Small groups are where Christians often
grow the most. We are looking at ways of reintroducing small
groups that have a vision for outreach, and where leaders are
equipped to lead. Watch this space.

| Commissioning of
Rose Tan |
|
On Sunday August 3, we
rejoiced in commissioning Rose Tan as Multicultural Ministry
Facilitator. Under Trevor's direction Rose's tasks include: to
explore how we can provide ESL classes; tor forge links with
cultural communities; to form a Multicultural Ministry Team; and
to see how we might start a multicultural congregation here.
We
received a generous grant from the Diocese to help in this. Rose
will work out of our Parish Office three days
a week and can be contacted through the office (9341 3961), her mobile
(0413 972 168) or by sending an email to rose.tan@perth.anglican.org

| Daring to live
God's promises Study |
|
As our vision is taking shape,
the Diocese has also started a Mission Plan (entitled Daring to
life God’s promises) that supports and inspires our own vision.
We unfold this Diocesan mission strategy through a 5 week study,
co-written by John Dunnill. We will run the study here on
Wednesdays at 11am and 7.30pm, beginning July 30.
Booklets cost $5. Another smaller group will start to meet
on Tuesday 19th August at 12.30pm, aimed at the
young mums in the Parish. Give Bron a call in the office if you
are interested in joining this group.

| Women's Breakfast |
|
There is no women's breakfast in
August as the one on September 6 will be extraordinary
and special. So dust down your favourite breakfast outfit
and prepare to be dazzled in September.

| New Uniting
Church Minister |
|
We pray for the Uniting Church
as the Scarborough-Waterman's Bay congregations welcome their
new minister, the Revd Brian Thorpe, who was inducted into the
congregations on Sunday 10 August. We have a good
relationship with the Uniting Church just up the road from us,
and we look forward to deepening our bonds of fellowship. |
| Help with Aged
Care |
|
We are now providing worship
opportunities at four Aged Care centres- Moline Village, Geneff
Village, Shawford Lodge and Birralee Nursing Home, and are
looking to start soon at Crystal Halliday.
If you would like to
assist with any of these services, please let Trevor or Rosemary
know.
Our thanks to our small but committed band of
Lay Pastoral Ministers who support all our Sunday and Aged Care
services.

| Recent
church maintenance |
|
Some repairs and maintenance
recently done in our Church include:
Termite treatment of the hall and cross, organ repair, hot water
service repair, air conditioner repair, rectory pergola repair
and piano tune.
|
| Parish Pantry |
|
Please keep your food donations coming in,
soups, cereal, tinned meat, fish etc. They are greatly in need
as Pantry has got very busy again and we are struggling to keep
up with demand. Your contributions are much appreciated.
Thank you.

| Lambeth
Conference 2008 |
This worldwide conference of Anglican Bishops happens every 10
years, and this year began on 16 July, and concluded 4 August.
This is a critical time in the life of the Anglican Communion as
a theological split threatens to become a deep division in the
Communion.
On September 6, 8.30am to 1pm at the Judith Cottier
Theatre at Perth College, the Episcopal team will tell about
their Lambeth experiences. Call Jenny Liggins on 9325 7455
to book a place for catering purposes.
